Ontario Extending Free Prescription Drugs to People Over 65

After Wynne’s throne speech revealed that the Liberal government would be extending OHIP+, it was revealed that the program to provide free prescription drugs to those under 25 will be extended to people 65 and over as well.

Anyone eligible will simply have to present their OHIP number to receive medication for free.

Starting August 1, 2019, anyone 65 and older will no longer have to pay a deductible or co-payment at pharmacies across the province.

The program includes thousands of eligible drugs. The government of Ontario has created an online portal where people can check their medications for eligibility. Find out more about OHIP+ here.
