November 28, 2023 – The Osler Foundation celebrated a decade of community-driven support at its 10th Annual Gala Benefit Concert, held at the Rose Theatre in Brampton this past weekend. The event, a vibrant blend of music, philanthropy, and community spirit, raised an impressive $194,165, marking another milestone in Osler’s ongoing mission to transform healthcare for the rapidly growing communities it serves.
The gala, a highlight on Brampton’s social calendar, featured renowned Canadian singer Amanda Marshall as the musical guest, captivating the audience with her soulful performance. The event’s success was further propelled by the generous support of Presenting Sponsor Orlando Corporation.
Osler Foundation’s mandate is clear — to enhance healthcare services and infrastructure across its hospital system, catering to the diverse healthcare needs of the expanding communities. The funds raised will play a crucial role in the transformation of Peel Memorial into Brampton’s second hospital, the expansion of cancer care services at Brampton Civic Hospital, and ensuring that Etobicoke General Hospital has the resources needed to continue providing exceptional healthcare close to home.
Mayor Patrick Brown, expressing his enthusiasm for the cause, stated on social media, “It was a fantastic evening at the Rose Theatre in Brampton for the 10th annual @OslerFoundation gala concert with @TheMarshallMix. We are determined to raise our local share to build Brampton’s 2nd hospital. This annual gala concert is always one of the great fundraisers for @OslerHealth, and tonight was no exception!”
The pressing need for enhanced healthcare facilities is underscored by the rapid growth of local communities, which is three times faster than the provincial average. Additionally, a projected 83% increase in the local seniors’ population over the next eight years and an increased demand for mental health services due to the pandemic emphasize the urgency of Osler’s mission.
Notably, Osler hospitals cater to a community with a greater-than-average risk of serious illnesses such as heart disease, kidney disease, and diabetes. Within the next 20 years, an alarming one in two members of the community is expected to be diagnosed with cancer. Osler’s commitment to providing exceptional patient care remains unwavering, and the support garnered from events like the Gala Benefit Concert is integral to sustaining and expanding these vital services.
One poignant fact highlighted during the event was that 100% of the equipment in Ontario hospitals must be funded by the community, underscoring the critical role played by community support in ensuring the continued success of Osler’s healthcare initiatives.
The Osler Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, sponsors, and donors who contributed to the success of the 10th Annual Gala Benefit Concert. As Osler continues to evolve to meet the ever-growing demand for quality healthcare, the Foundation emphasizes the importance of ongoing community support to create a healthier, more resilient future for all.
