Since 2012, Giving Tuesday is the day after Cyber Monday, which of course follows the infamous Black Friday. Giving Tuesday is all about encouraging people to give back after a long weekend of consumerism. The idea is that people should donate or volunteer their time to the community, non-profits, and charities.

This year on Giving Tuesday, which is December 1, the William Osler Health System Foundation wants to raise money for more personal protective equipment (PPE) for its doctors and other staff.

While the province funds the building itself, all the equipment inside a hospital is community-funded. This means that hospitals such as Brampton Civic have to turn to residents and other donors to keep the wheels turning properly.

A generous anonymous donor will be matching donations up to $10,000.
