December 26, 2023 – In an effort to equip families with comprehensive insights into educational and career planning, the Peel District School Board is hosting an information session scheduled for January 4, commencing at 5 p.m. This session will take place at the Susan Fennell Sportsplex, located at 500 Ray Lawson Blvd., Brampton.
Attendees are invited to engage with key stakeholders, including Graduation Coaches, Black Excellence Resource Teachers, and Transition Resource Teachers. The agenda will encompass a detailed exploration of myBlueprint, an innovative online educational planning tool. This tool enables families to methodically plan for their child’s future, granting access to critical resources such as:
- Student career plans
- Insights into domestic and international post-secondary education options
- Scholarship and bursary information
- Graduation requirement tracking for individual students
Understanding myBlueprint: An Educational Compass for Grades 7-12
MyBlueprint serves as an integral educational compass for students in grades 7 through 12 within the Peel District School Board. This online platform strategically guides students through the process of discerning education and career choices.
Regardless of whether students are preparing for apprenticeships, college, university, or entry into the workforce, myBlueprint offers an array of tools designed to empower families to navigate and explore their child’s future. Attendees are encouraged to establish a family account, facilitating remote access to myBlueprint tools.
Within myBlueprint, students gain access to invaluable pathway planning tools, including:
- High school planner: Facilitating course selection and future course planning
- “Who Am I?” surveys: Illuminating students’ interests, strengths, and motivations
- Occupation planner: Offering insights into potential careers based on survey outcomes
- Post-secondary planner: Navigating opportunities beyond high school
myBlueprit Success
Lucas W., a grade 12 student from Meadowvale Secondary School, attests, “ Not only did myBlueprint assist me in course selection, but I was also able to narrow my future aspirations down to two majors; computer and electrical engineering… what started my thought process geared towards these majors was the simple career survey available on the myBlueprint website.” Lucas is a recipient of a $1,000 post-secondary scholarship from myBlueprint.
