The Monday after New Year’s Day, January 4, will find all students in the Peel District School Board (PDSB) switched to remote learning for a period of time dependent on grade level.

Elementary-level students (kindergarten to grade 8) will be assigned to remote learning from January 4 to 8, and high school students will continue online until January 22.

The announcement came after the Government of Ontario announced a 28-day lockdown in southern Ontario, which started on December 26.

According to Premier Doug Ford, the measure was necessary because of rapidly increasing rates of COVID-19 all across the province.

In a recent news release, Peel District School Board said, “School buildings will be closed to students during this time, except for some students who are learning in-person in contained special education classes.” The release added for both grade levels, “More information will be forthcoming for… students currently learning in-person in contained special education classes.”

If there are any changes to his plan, the school board will notify parents. You can also monitor the situation on the PDSB website here.
