Police Investigating Disturbing Social Media Posts Involving Brampton School

Peel Police are investigating a disturbing social media post involving a student from St. Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton.

Sunday, June 4, police received reports of a social media post on Snapchat advising fellow students to bring weapons to school on Monday June 5 in order to case disruptions to the school day.

The post indicated that no one should be harmed but that the weapons should be used to incite a lockdown at the school.

The 16-year-old female responsible for the post has been arrested, but under the Youth Criminal Justice Act her identity has not been revealed.

As a precaution, Peel Regional Police officers were present at the school Monday morning to monitor the issue. The school operated through Monday as normal with no reports of weapons on school premises.

Police are no strangers to the school. Back in 2014 a teen was stabbed at the school, putting St. Edmund Campion into lockdown and nearby schools into a hold and secure.

Police are reminding members of the public that threatening posts online and on social media, regardless of intent, are subject to the law and can lead to criminal charges.
