On the heels of the first Raptors NBA finals game in the history of the franchise, Brampton has announced that it will be screening all finals games in Garden Square.
The city officially received permission from Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and Brampton’s very own Garden Square will be transformed into its own version of Jurassic Park, with all games airing on the big screen.
Mayor Patrick Brown made the announcement Tuesday evening on Twitter, and everyone is pretty thrilled.
During game 6 where the Raptors clinched the series against the Bucks and earned their way into the finals, fans lined up for hours in downtown Toronto just to get into Jurassic Park. With the first two games happening at the Scotiabank Arena, even bigger crowds are expected for game 1 and 2.
Garden Square has drawn large crowds in the past for sporting events, like the FIFA World Cup Finals last year. A sizable contingent of Raptors fans is expected so it’s sure to be a good time.
Game 1 kicks off Thursday at 9 p.m. and the weather is expected to be cloudy, but dry, with temperatures sitting around 16 degrees. Limited seating will be available, so don’t forget your lawn chair. You can also comfortably watch the game from The Works or Wendel Clark’s patios.
