When passing through downtown Brampton, you may have seen the street light banners along Queen Street and Main Street, featuring local veterans: those who have served and those still in the force.
The City of Brampton is hosting Remembrance Day celebrations to continue honouring those who serve and have served to protect our freedoms. These include those of the Canadian Armed Forces/military and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
Launching the celebrations in the city were the poppy campaign and flag raising ceremony, which happened Friday. Funds raised during the campaign will directly support Canada’s serving and retired veterans and their families while helping Canadians never forget the tremendous efforts of those who serve. There was also a candlelight service on Sunday at Gage Park’s Veteran Statue.
The city joins with the Royal Canadian Legion Branches 15 and 609 to organize these public events, in appreciation of those who serve, and to invite residents to attend in honour of them. Here’s a list of the rest of the events that will happen on and leading into Remembrance Day.

Veterans ride for free on Brampton Transit on November 11.
One other thing you’ll want to see comes to us from a team-up between the City of Brampton and the Legion Branch 15 of the Royal Canadian Legion. They created videos in recognition of the following veterans from Brampton and you can click each name to watch the clips: Colonel Bill Adcock, Captain Stewart Dalziel, Sergeant Chris Banks, Colonel Edward Conover, Pilot Officer Bill Burrell, Corporal Christopher Varga, Air Commodore Surjeet Singh Bhatti.
