December 29, 2023 – A routine traffic stop turned into a high-stakes arrest as officers from 22 Division seized a loaded firearm in Brampton. The incident unfolded on December 28th near Church Street and Union Street.

Members of 22 Division’s Bicycle Patrol Unit and Community Intervention Response Team (CIRT) conducted the stop. When the two occupants attempted to flee, officers swiftly pursued them on foot. With the assistance of the K9 unit, both suspects were apprehended, and a loaded firearm was recovered.

Charged in connection with the incident is 22-year-old Anthony Sidhu of Brampton. He faces charges including possession of a prohibited device, carrying a concealed weapon, and knowledge of unauthorized firearm possession.

Another Brampton resident, 22-year-old Roel Lloyd, also faces charges related to the seized firearm, including possession of a prohibited device, knowledge of unauthorized firearm possession, and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm. Notably, Lloyd is charged with possession of a firearm contrary to order.

Both suspects were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
