Peel Regional Police (PRP) Services and the City of Brampton jointly announced that a new Peel Regional Police Satellite office, located at the City’s Gore Meadows Community Centre, will open in December 2022.

Mayor Patrick Brown, Chair of Community Services Rowena Santos, Ward 9&10 Councillors Harkirat Singh and Gurpreet Dhillon, and Regional Councillor Michael Palleschi were on hand, joined by Peel Regional Police members and Ron Chatha, Chair of the Peel Police Services Board. Representing the provincial government, MPP Hardeep Grewal of Brampton East was also at the announcement.

The need is clear – to deliver on a safer Brampton for local residents.

According to Peel Regional Police’s Crime Mapping Tool, in the Wards where the Community Centre is located, the last 30 days involved 16 auto thefts, 6 thefts from vehicles, and 3 break and enters. The satellite office is intended enable a stronger police presence in the area and hopefully deter these crimes from happening.

The new office includes an equipped office space, washroom, kitchenette, IT closet and a separate entrance from the facility vestibule. The project is estimated to cost $501,000 for renovations to the Community Centre.

Brampton City Council made ‘Brampton is a Healthy and Safe City’ one of five top priorities for the 2018-2022 Term of Council, which included developing a Community Safety Action Plan. The new Peel Regional Police Satellite office located at the community centre will advance the Plan’s objectives.

This site will act as a touchdown station for officers to visit and work during their shifts and while on patrol. Mayor Patrick Brown stated that “this location will help support faster response times, creating a safer environment for all.”
