It’s currently a humid 30 degrees Celcius in Brampton, but temperatures are about to plunge and it’s going to cause severe wind and a thunderstorm.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures will drop up to 20 degrees reaching a frigid 8 degrees Celcius overnight.

When the warm and cold systems clash it will cause severe wind, and local hydro companies are warning customers to expect potential power outages. As of 3 p.m. the high winds have already started. Environment Canada is warning that damage may be caused to homes, including roof shingles and windows. It’s probably a good idea to stow away patio furniture, BBQs, garbage bins, and anything else that can blow away.

Alectra will be offering regular updates on Twitter and customers can also track repair of power outages using this map.
