The City of Brampton recently announced the live virtual performances for the Brampton New Year’s Eve 2020 celebration. Featured will be Brampton’s own Haviah Mighty, and from Newmarket, Ontario, indie rock band Tokyo Police Club.
Brampton’s New Year’s Eve 2021 celebration will look different than usual due to COVID-19, of course. This year the celebration moves online to safeguard community health and safety.
The city is encouraging residents to share their at-home Brampton New Year’s Eve 2021 celebrations on social media by tagging @CityBrampton and using hashtags #BramptonNewYearsEve and #BramptonTogether.
Live From The Rose
This year’s virtual show will begin at 8 pm at Brampton.ca/NewYearsEve with messages from Mayor Patrick Brown and Members of Council, and a pre-recorded performance by cover band Soular.
Then Brampton’s Polaris Prize-winning hip hop artist Haviah Mighty and JUNO-nominated Canadian indie rock band Tokyo Police Club will perform live from The Rose Brampton mainstage. Both performances will be live-streamed at the same link. There will be no in-person performances this year.
Live from The Rose is The Rose’s virtual performance series, featuring shows broadcast live from the mainstage to audiences at home. Learn more at www.therosebrampton.ca.
Fireworks Online
Then there will be an online fireworks display with additional augmented reality features, sponsored by Snapd Community Hub. The virtual show starts at 9 pm. There will be no in-person fireworks this year.
Family-friendly activities online
In classic Brampton New Year’s Eve fashion, take part in a range of fun family-friendly activities starting at noon on December 31. This year the city’s programming is fully online. Online activities will include craft shows, a kids’ dance party, kids’ entertainment shows, printable DIY activities, and more. There will be no in-person events this year.
Enjoy takeout from local restaurants
The city wants to encourage residents to stay in and celebrate safely, and another thing it’s doing to make it easier is putting together a restaurant guide. It will have local restaurants that have pickup and delivery for New Year’s Eve.
