The long-awaited upgrades to the Gore Meadows Community Centre are finally finished as of September 15, 2018.
The project’s second and final phase of construction had continued delays–and even a change of contractor–but the 80,000 square foot addition has been revealed and it includes a leisure pool with an awesome looking slide, as well as a lane pool that is even big enough for competitions.
There is also a big expansion to the fitness centre which now has a ton of both cardio and weight training equipment as well as multiple spaces for fitness classes.
The indoor track has separate lanes for running, walking and passing, and it’s all marked for users, so for example, if you go around the circle 12 times it equals one kilometre.
There is even an outdoor ice rink coming this winter, assuming the weather is cold enough, and for summer fun there’s a new splash pad is in the works.
Gore Meadows Phase 2 is also looking for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, which includes things such as the site’s development being sustainable, water being efficient and materials used should be sustainable and healthy.
Details about the grand opening event will be announced in early 2019, and in the meantime, you can get more information here.
Now you can feast your eyes on a sneak peek inside Phase 2.
