Brampton is about to kick off its Winter Lights Weekend which signals the beginning of the holiday season in the city.
As part of the event, residents will be able to give back and help others in need in the community in a couple of ways.
First, as part of the Winter Lights Weekend festivities, residents are invited to participate in the Brampton Food Dive by dropping off non-perishable food items to city hall during the tree lighting on Friday, November 16.
Christmas is a busy time for local food banks and soup kitchens, and the donated food will go a long way to ensuring families in need are taken care of during the Holidays.
The other opportunity is that residents are invited to donate unwrapped toys that will go to Peel Regional Police’s Toys for Tots program.
Toys for Tots has been operating since 1993 to provide disadvantaged children in Peel Region with toys during the holidays.
Non-perishable food items and toys can be dropped off inside Brampton City Hall in the atrium adjacent to Main Street on Friday, November 16 from 6 to 10 p.m.
