Last Thursday Brampton’s Rose Theatre welcomed the newest addition – QUEERIAHCITY – to their #ThisIsBrampton series in its Studio II.

QUEERIAHCITY is the first Queer and Trans performance series in Region of Peel. It has been curated by Anu Radha Verma, a QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) advocate from Mississauga.

It celebrates local racialized Queer and Trans artists who are working across multiple artistic disciplines. The aim is to create an unexpected space for the 2SLGBTQ+ (2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer) communities and supporters by combining creativity, activism, and community-building in a cabaret-style show.

The inaugural showcase last week featured artists such as prominent Instagram and YouTuber Manghoe Lassi, whose drag looks are heavily influenced by their cultural background, singer Savannah Taylor, musician Easily Discouraged, and poet and visual artist Harmeet Rehal.

If you missed it mark the next one on your calendars for the March series on March 26, 2020.
