Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, “young voices must be part of our decision-making process”. In response, Brampton Member of Parliament Ruby Sahota has hosted a Youth Council annually since her election in 2015.
In a statement, her office said the MP wants “to bring together young people from her riding, in order to engage them, and listen to them on the issues that matter to youth in our country.” It goes on to add, “It is important that young Canadians have their say and can share their views and ideas with the government.”
Youth Council members will be able to learn more about the Canadian political process as well as current events and policies. They will most importantly, though, be giving feedack to the MP and Ministers.
The Youth Council will meet once a month from September 2020 to August 2021.
If you are a Brampton North youth between the ages of 13 and 26, and you want to apply, be sure to do it by September 30, 2020. The application can be found here. If you have any questions you can email MP Sahota’s office here.
