Brampton’s rental market continues to get more expensive, while the crop of legal rental buildings and units continues to get more scarce. Luckily there are a few new apartment developments–and even a condo–coming to Brampton.
One of the apartment complexes on Hanover Road plans to build two additional buildings on its existing site. One of the buildings would be 12 storeys and the other would be 26 storeys. Combined they’d add an additional 348 units up for grabs. The two buildings would have 168 one bedroom units, and 206 two bedroom units. 10 units will be three bedrooms.
The two new buildings would be in walking distance to Chinguacousy Park and Bramalea City Centre.
A third development, a condo building, is also planned for Scott Street, overlooking the Etobicoke Creek. The proposed building will have 17 storeys, with a tiered design.
The building will have 358 units — 266 one-bedroom units, 52 two-bedroom units, and 40 three-bedroom units. The building will have 567 underground parking spaces as well. Currently, a six-storey building sits in the place of where the apartment building will go, and the developer plans to demolish it.
There’s no telling what it will cost to live in one of these new buildings. The Ford government announced last week that it would be removing rent controls for new apartment buildings to incentivize developers to build more units.
With average rents for one-bedroom apartments coming in over $1,200, there’s no telling what it will cost to live in one of these new developments once they’re built and available to the public.
