As of today, Uber has officially extended its UberPOOL (carpooling service) area to include Brampton, making travel cheaper for all Uber lovers across the city.
After launching the service in Toronto last January, the company has slowly rolled out service to other GTA cities, Brampton and Scarborough being the latest inductees.
As the name suggests, UberPOOL allows Uber riders to share their ride with other commuters headed in the same direction to save some money and help the environment all at the same time.
Rides with UberPOOL generally save about 30 percent on rides compared to single rides with UberX.
How it works
The process is essentially the same as taking a regular Uber
- Request uberPOOL through the Uber app at the bottom of your screen. Set your pickup location and destination to see a quoted fare.
- Uber then matches you with riders heading in the same direction (A maximum of 2 riders per pickup).
- Hop out when you reach your destination and your account is automatically charged.
Uber has also sweetened the deal for Brampton riders by offering a flat $5 fare from Brampton GO and Mount Peasant GO to anywhere that’s within a 10km radius.
