Jviden, pronounced Jaiden, is a hip-hop artist and producer from Brampton who takes a generally unconventional approach to making music.
He released Pure last year, a profoundly revealing project about vulnerability, love, and identity. It was accompanied by a subtle and melodic production with features from Ashton and K. Forest.
Pure stayed faithful to its name: every track was a stark antithesis to the modern bass-boosted trap sound of narcotic-fueled, hedonistic rap music. Its sound was largely inspired by the serenity of nature. Jviden sat with Brampton Says to discuss the project as well as his narrative-driven process to making music.
