Vishnu’s Roti and Doubles

Vishnu’s Roti and Doubles has been a staple on the Caribbean culinary scene for seven years. The owners, a husband and wife team, each hail from opposite sides of Trinidad, and have built a simple restaurant and take-out counter that’s very personable. The island meals are well known to be served with roti or dhal puri, which resembles a roti layered with ground split peas, or with rice. Regardless of which meat, seafood or vegetable, Trinidadian dishes are either stewed, barbequed or curried, and served with condiments such as pepper sauces, chutneys, seasoned fruits and a variety of pickled items. Flavours have a heavy influence from South Asia along with Spanish, Creole, African and East Asian subtleties.
