Victoria Day is the unofficial start of summer, and this year the weather should be fantastic. There are lots of things happening in the city on the holiday, so here’s what’s open and closed Victoria Day in Brampton.

What’s Open

Some recreation centres throughout Brampton will be open, offering various programming. Note that some centres will be open but have reduced hours.

Peel Art Gallery Museum + Archives is open and offering free admission. It has a full slate of activities going on from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If you’d like to get some shopping in, Bramalea City Centre is also open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As for food and dining, some restaurants will be open across the city and some won’t, so it’s best to call ahead.

While most grocery stores are closed, Rabba will remain open 24/7, as well as other corner stores and convenience stores.

What’s Closed

City hall will be closed and a number of city services will be unavailable or operate under reduced service levels.

While Brampton library branches are open Saturday and Sunday, they will be closed on Victoria Day.

Regional services and offices will also be closed Monday including, Access Peel, Assessment: Peel Access to Housing and Children’s Services, Brampton breastfeeding clinics, Children’s Services Operations, Community Recycling Centres, dental services at Peel Public Health clinics, Employment Resource Centres, Healthy Sexuality Clinics, Human Services reception, Learn.Play.Care. Child Care Centres, Ontario Works in Peel, Peel Living, Public Works reception, the Meadowvale Peel Public Health Clinic and Rent Supplement.

In addition, banks and regional services like Ontario Works, employment services, and waste collection will also be closed.

The LCBO, Beer Store and most grocery stores will also be closed.

If You’re Taking Transit

If you’re planning to take Brampton Transit, it’s operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule. GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule.

Other Things to Note

Waste collection, including curbside pickup of garbage and recycling, will not happen on Victoria Day but will be bumped one day later.

Chinguacousy Park will offer a variety of amusement rides to celebrate the holiday.

There are no City of Brampton-hosted fireworks displays on Victoria Day, but the holiday is one of four days a year where fireworks are allowed on private property without a permit.
