Fall is officially in the air, kicking off pumpkin spice and apple picking season. There are plenty of great orchards and farms in and around the Brampton area for apple picking with the family, but if you’re looking for some more grown-up fun, throw Spirit Tree Cidery on your fall 2018 list of to-dos.
The apple picking season runs from September to the end of October and the trees in Spirit Tree’s orchard have over 38 different apple varieties to choose from. It’s free to get in, but they charge $30/bag or $1.50 per pound to pick your own.
Apple picking is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and once you’re finished traipsing through the orchard, enjoy a delicious hand-tossed, stone-baked pizza and a cider tasting in the Ciderhouse bistro. The bistro has a delicious artisan menu with pan-seared chicken, tacos, and a thing or two to satisfy your sweet tooth.
For just $10 you can enjoy a tour of the cidery and a tasting. For a little bit more ($25) Spirit Tree even pairs its ciders with local cheeses. If you’re looking to enjoy a good dose of apple, but in an adult way, the draught cider and the Applelager come highly recommended. They have a bunch of other alcoholic beverages including a pumpkin cider and a pear cider.
You won’t go home empty-handed either. Did we mention they also have a country store filled with delicious baked goods? Baked pies, crumbles, brownies, cookies and even freshly baked bread are available in the store.
Spirit Tree is located at 1137 Boston Mills Rd in Caledon. It can get busy, so you’ll want to call ahead and make reservations if you want to take the tour and enjoy the bistro.
