Tornadoes reported in Brampton after severe weather warnings

A series of severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by Environment Canada for the GTA and the surrounding area Saturday. The bad weather rolled into Brampton in the evening, leaving a bit of chaos in its wake.

Residents in the Dear Dearbourne Boulevard at Deerfield Crescent area in Brampton reported fallen trees and damage to their homes. They believe a tornado may have touched down

“When I came (home) I saw the roof was off, my whole patio set was gone,” the man said. “Right now my whole house is completely flooded inside with the rain. It’s coming down from all three levels, all the rooms are soaked,” a resident told CP24. “The shingles are all gone from the roof. My BBQ is in the neighbour’s yard. All the trees are down on the side of my neighbour too.”

Environment Canada can’t officially confirm that any tornadoes indeed touched down, but the weather caused damage nonetheless.

Reports of tornadoes came from people in Oshawa and Beaverton as well. Experts will have an answer in the coming days.
