If you’ve visited a Shoppers Drug Mart in Brampton as of late and checked out your own items, you’ve been greeted by the sassy voice of what sounds like an uninterested teenager.
Since the company rolled out self-checkouts in March it’s gotten tons of complaints online due to mass amounts of snark people say the voice exudes.
Shoppers Drug Mart needs a better voice performer. This one sounds like she’s rolling her eyes and filing her nails. pic.twitter.com/TkDDSZMrMU

People have likened the voice to a snarky teenager rolling her eyes or a whiny Millenial. Some say it’s reminiscent of the ‘Cash me Outside’ girl who went viral after picking fights on Doctor Phil.
Shoppers Drug Mart responded by assuring the Twitter horde that they’d be replacing the voice and utilizing Canadian talent to do the job.
Thanks for your tweet! We are currently working on new self-checkout prompts using Canadian talent. Watch out for this in the next month!
