As of Wednesday, January 27, 2021, non-medical masks or face coverings are mandatory on the ice at all city-owned outdoor skating rinks for all participants over the age of ten.
The city advises that participants of all ages are still required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering in all other areas of the skating enclosure, which includes washrooms, staging areas, and while waiting in line to check-in for a reserved skate.
Skating Reservations
Under current provincial lockdown measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, capacity limits and a reservation system have been implemented at outdoor ice rinks. Here is what the city advises:
- Plan your visit to an outdoor ice rink by making a reservation online using a new or existing Recreation registration account.
- Effective Sunday, January 24, outdoor skating can be reserved 24 hours in advance of the chosen time for the following day.
- Due to high demand and limited capacity, residents are permitted one outdoor skate reservation per day. This is to ensure equitable access to outdoor skating for the entire community.
- Reservations are required for all patrons (including parents/guardians or others accompanying skaters).
- As of Wednesday, January 27, 2021, non-medical masks or face coverings are mandatory on the ice at all outdoor skating rinks for all participants ages ten (10) and over. The city will send a cancellation notice via email if the rink is closed due to weather or unexpected circumstances. You can also confirm rink status here.
