January 25, 2024 – Peel Regional Police seized a loaded firearm during a routine traffic stop in Brampton, leading to a string of serious charges against a 19-year-old local resident.
On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 5:09 p.m., officers from 21 Division were conducting proactive patrols near Knightsbridge Road and Kings Cross Road when they pulled over a vehicle. Initially investigating the driver for a Cannabis Control Act offence, the officers made a startling discovery – a loaded firearm in the possession of the driver.
The swift action of the officers resulted in the arrest of Kobe STEWART-BROOKS, a 19-year-old Brampton resident. The firearm was promptly recovered, averting a potentially dangerous situation.
As a consequence of the investigation, STEWART-BROOKS now faces a litany of charges, including Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Carry Concealed Weapon, Utter Threats Cause Bodily Harm, and Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling.
Following his arrest, STEWART-BROOKS was held for a bail hearing and subsequently appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
