Boston Bruins Defeat Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 at Fenway Park

January 2, 2023 – It was a memorable moment for hockey fans as three of the NHL’s iconic players took the ice at Fenway Park for the ceremonial puck drop at the 2023 Winter Classic.

The Winter Classic is considered one of the NHL’s premier events, with matchups generally arranged to showcase the league’s most popular teams and players. The event garners the league its highest attendance and among its highest television ratings.

The most recent event took place at Fenway Park, with the Boston Bruins defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 2–1.

NHL Great Bobby Orr, joined by current captain Zdeno Chara and Bruins legend Johnny Bucyk, took part in the unique first pitch tradition.

The crowd cheered and cameras flashed as the three Bruins made their way to center ice, with Orr and Chara each carrying a stick and Bucyk carrying the puck.

With the Fenway Park crowd on its feet, Orr and Chara took their places on either side of Bucyk as he prepared to drop the puck.
