December 7, 2023 Peel Regional Police are taking decisive action to put the brakes on illegal street racing and aggressive high-speed driving that are still plaguing our roads. In an effort to keep our community safe, officers have been actively involved in Project E.R.A.S.E. (Eliminating Racing Activities on Streets Everywhere) and the Project Noisemaker program.

Project E.R.A.S.E. isn’t just a name; it’s a strategic enforcement initiative designed to wipe out hazardous driving behavior from our streets. Project Noisemaker zeroes in on vehicles sporting modified or excessively loud exhaust systems.

The ERASE Program isn’t merely about punitive measures; it’s a comprehensive approach aiming to transform reckless driving behavior through education, strategic enforcement, and modifying social behavior. Street racing, an illegal and perilous activity, poses a severe threat to the lives of our community members.

Between May 1, 2023, and October 1, 2023, officers identified hotspots throughout the Region of Peel and targeted these areas as part of the operation. During this period, a whopping 941 vehicles were investigated, resulting in 1230 Provincial Offence Notices being issued. Some of the offenses include:

  • 783 stunt driving charges,
  • 170 Improper/No Muffler charges,
  • 25 Criminal Code charges related to impaired and dangerous driving.
One of the many examples Peel Police put on social media to show what happens when you street race.

Street racing is not just illegal; it’s a threat to everyone on the road. Peel Regional Police emphasize their zero-tolerance stance towards dangerous driving behaviors and street racing activities to ensure road safety. Officers are on high alert 24/7, committed to maintaining a secure environment for all road users.

Peel Regional Police prioritize road safety as a core policing function, making speeding, aggressive driving, and impaired enforcement top priorities for their officers and service.
